Another Birthday Party!! Austin's Angry Birds Party!

Before I recap our week...I found a few pictures on my phone that I didn't include in last week's blog.

The kids love the bubble wands!

My grocery shopping buddies.  Poor Ella...it was getting overcrowded in the basket, but she was the only would I could trust to sit in there.  Cam was busy "scratching" his nose.

Monday, 3/4:

Austin getting a little Wii time in...minus pants.

He was concerned about Ella's running nose so he wiped it over and over again saying, "Ella, you got boogies."

Still no pants, but now with Ella's boots on.

After picking Hunter up from school we went to his school's playground...nice day outside and I knew the next few days were not going to be so great.

Tuesday, 3/5:

I've been going through boy clothes to get rid of...here's a tub of 18 month clothes.  So, I guess my clothing obsession has been going on for awhile now and not just because I'm having a girl.

Wednesday, 3/6:

Our friend, Tripp, came over to play this afternoon.

In preparation for Austin's upcoming Angry Birds birthday party I started the long process of painting faces on some rubber balls I found.  The bigger ones were from Walmart and the smaller ones were from the dollar store.

First I drew an outline on each ball with a dry erase marker.  (I used a vis-a-vis pen on some and found that the primer I painted with, in the next step, made the pen bleed through)

Then I painted two coats of primer on each face...three on the eyes.  (this is just one coat)

Thurs. 3/7:

Chris was home sick today.  So far, no one else in the house has anything except for Austin who is getting over a cold.

I continued my Angry Bird ball painting...today I worked on a few different parts with acrylic paint.

The kids played with the new Melissa and Doug building blocks, which we're going to use for the party as well.

This looks like it's about to fall over, but it didn't.

Getting closer...

Friday, 3/8:

Chris is still home sick.  We received our loaner couch from Thomasville on Wednesday, but our old couch is still in the house.  :(

Puzzle time...

Once the birds were painted, I use a black paint pen to outline all the features of birds and pigs.

So cute!  For the last step, I took them outside and sprayed them with a finish to prevent the paint from chipping off.  (more about that later)

 Saturday, 3/9:

My mom and Ed drove through the night on Friday night and arrived around 9am Saturday morning.  After they napped for a bit, Chris and Ed tore up the carpet on our stairs and pulled out all of the staples.  (My mom and I took the boys to get their hair cut and we did a little food shopping for the party.)

Chris was feeling well enough to get out of bed today.

I baked all the cupcakes throughout the day and got them frosted Saturday night.  The vanilla ones were like over flowing mushrooms.  Woops.

While I was frosting, my mom cut a ton of veggies.

The boys were cuddled on our new "loaner" couch, which is quite comfortable...Nonna brought them each a corn bag to keep warm (nicknamed popcorn Winnie and now Hunter is calling them hot Winnie).  They also each have their memory bears made from some of Papa's old sweaters.  I'll have to get a better picture later.   They are really cute!  And they both loved them.

Trying out the cupcakes!

Sunday, 3/10:

Birthday party day!  (side note...I got out my camera to take some pictures and realized I had left my battery at home....so we started using my mom's camera...the battery died after taking about 20 pictures...so the rest were taken with my phone...thankfully my friend's husband took some for us.  I'll add them once I get them from her.)

Hunter being silly in the car on the way to Pullen Park.

Austin is excited!

Austin helping Ed fill up some food containers.

The food table.

Bird food...fruit on a stick that represented each color bird from Angry Birds and veggies.

Our launcher!

Austin by his cupcakes...set up like an Angry Bird's theme.

Party favors...bird food (gummy worms) and bird poop (peanut M&Ms)...on the back side of the paper it said, "Thanks for crashing Austin's party!

Watermelon pig.

Some snacks...bird seed (trail mix), bird poop (peanut M&Ms), bird food (gummy worms) and pig food (chex mix and cheese balls).

Lemonade...which I was told should have been labelled bird pee.  Gross, but that didn't stop anyone from drinking it.

Angry piggies = pigs in a blanket.

The kids had more fun kicking the blocks around then using the launcher...they also had a better time throwing the balls at each other.  (as for my poor painted balls...the finish I used dried well to the paint, but made the rubber around the rest of the ball really sticky...small balls only...regardless...they were covered in dirt and grass within minutes.)  Oh well.

Some fun with the parachute.

Austin actually sat down to eat...he loved the pigs (without the blanket)

Lots of shaded pictures due to using my phone...:(

Proper use of the launcher!

Getting ready for cupcakes.

He asked for vanilla, but then ate Nonna's chocolate.

Hunter and Andrew taking a little break.

Henry and Riley eating some snacks.

Another great shot from my phone...Austin's little cousin Bennett with his mom and dad.

It was quite crowded at the playground today.  The line for the boats was not long, so we started there while Nonna and Ed stood in line for the train.

When Hunter saw Austin's shirt I had made him he was excited thinking I made them as party favors for everyone.  When I told him I didn't, he was really upset.  So, I made him one quickly this morning.

So close to the train the whistle was just too loud!

Hunter and Lucas excited to be on the train.

Back at home with my camera...Austin was making the birds talk to each other.  (please note his messy shirt...so gross.  Next time I make him a shirt it will NOT be white)

Excited to open his present.

He was excited about the Cootie game from his friend, Caleb.

Yeah...play-doh.  He goes through play-doh like crazy.

I asked him to hold up his spiderman...and this is what he did.

A Mario shirt...Luigi too...(that's what he told me)

Spiderman talking to the Angry Birds.

Some pictures with Nonna and Ed before they left.

He had to put his new shirt on.

After a long day he did get a little upset when he was asked not to put Sadie in a choke hold.  If this picture had sound you would hear a loud whiny noise.

But, he got over it and built a "castle."

Busy, busy day...daylight savings did not bother the boys.  They were both in bed and asleep pretty quickly!
