Kindergarten Celebration!

Tonight we went to celebrate Hunter's end of year kindergarten celebration.  Just one more day of school...I can't believe it!
The pictures are not that great, because we were in the back.  But, each one of the kindergarten classes sang a song about the end of the school year.  Then they showed a 15 minute slide show of pictures taken throughout the school year.

It was cute...and sad too.  Hunter is on the far right in the striped shirt.

Hunter with Ms. Singer (TA) and Mrs. Miller (kindergarten teacher) this evening with this kindergarten diploma and picture of himself with a cap and gown.

Here they are on Hunter's first day of school back in September.  I just can't believe the year is over!

Most of Hunter's class...a few were missing.

Their cake...each child got to eat the piece with his/her name on it.  The unicorn is Underwood's mascot.

My sweet little guy.  Tonight we were talking about how it was his last day tomorrow and he said he wanted some friends to come over this summer.  Then he told me he was going to get rid of all of his stuffed animals...including his PILLOW PET that he has been sleeping on for almost two years.  I said, "really?  Maybe we can get rid of some and stick the rest in the closet when people come over."  I also pointed out that his friends still have stuffed animals too...I'm sure of it.  Regardless...he's growing up and prefers things other then stuffed animals.  :(

And...yes...Austin is missing from all the pictures because we got a sitter for the event.  I knew he would not be able to sit still for longer then 20 seconds and I wanted Chris and I to both enjoy Hunter's night.  Austin had a fun time with Elise playing with play-doh, chalk, and going on the swings.

***just a little side note...Hunter's sleeping with all of his stuffed animals and his pillow pet.  :)

What to do on a rainy day?

This morning was super gloomy...while Cam slept and while we waited for Ella and Andrew to come we decided to paint.  (Austin has been really into painting...so much so that he takes the paints out often and tries to get started on his own.  Yesterday I had to bring the dogs to the vet for a check-up.  So Chris was home with Austin, Ella, Andrew, and Hunter.  He could hear Ella and Austin playing in together...and then it got quiet.  They had taken the paint out of the closet and were busy squirting paint on the table.  Luckily he caught them before they got their hands into it!)

He got mad at me when I would not let him squirt the paint on his paper...so he slapped his hands on the paper and thought...oh, this is fun!

After awhile he decided there was too much paint on his hands...and then spent the next 10 minutes "washing" it off.

Then he got busy working with some play-doh.

"Two ducks! Two ducks!"

All of our play-doh animals...he lined them up and we talked about the animals and their color.  He was being all sweet and nice with them and then all of a sudden he started rolling them all into balls.  He picked all the play-doh up on his own.  He needed help getting the lids on tight, but that's it.

Last year I would always wait until Austin and Ella were down for a nap before we went out to the pool.  Since it rained earlier today and we had to wait for Hunter to get home...they were awake by the time we were going to swim.  Andrew has been asking to swim pretty much each day since...well, he asks everyday.  He was so excited that he just jumped right in.  I went out and bought this life jacket for Austin after his daredevil tricks this weekend.  It slowed him down...either that, or he just didn't feel like jumping in.  Hunter wanted to wear his life jacket too for some reason...which was fine with me, even though he is just fine out in the deep end.  Ella has not liked water...ever...but, she was thrilled to see Andrew jump in and she screamed her head off in pure joy when she saw Winnie swimming.  (I don't think she even made it out the pool at all last summer).  She actually got in with me twice...she asked both times.  So, by the end of the summer I think she really enjoy it.

Attempting to get a shot of all four...this is the only picture where Hunter looks normal.  The next few shots are pretty funny.

The big boys and Winnie were having a blast jumping in over and over.

All done...just watching now.  Perhaps we'll have two little swimmers by the end of the summer.  Maybe next year...I guess two is a little too young to really know how to swim.

Last Week of Kindergarten :(

Hunter has (or had) four days of school left as of this morning.  He'll be missing the last four days because of our beach trip.

Andrew's done with preschool...so I took Ella, Austin, and Andrew to a playground near Hunter's school and then we surprised him for lunch.  I just can't believe Hunter's first year of school is over...just 12 more to go!  With as quickly as this year went, it will be a blink of an eye when he drives off to college.  :(

I thought Ella was climbing up here to dig, but instead she used it as a chair to dump the sand out of her shoes.

Lunch with Hunter...not sure why Austin is making that face.

Searching for more fireflies!

Happy Memorial Day!

***disclaimer...I cannot post most of the pictures taken of Austin today, as he seemed to prefer skinny dipping over wearing a bathing suit.

I took Austin for a bike ride around the lake.  Then I ran with Hunter while he rode his bike.  He did really well.  I had to push him up the hills.  That made it a little more challenging for me.

After all of that we had to go swimming and spent most of the afternoon out at the pool.

The little lizard friend we found on the cover of the pool when we went out today.

Austin drooling on the lizard...yummmm, lizard!

After touching it.

Firefly...

Nothing too exciting today, because we spent most of the day cleaning the house.

We did get in some pool time.

There were a ton of fireflies out on our walk today...so Hunter had fun catching them.  Then he snuck one into the house and of course it escaped.  At least they are slow and easy to catch.  I had to bring his baseball bat on our walk because a few days ago a woman was taking a walk and a fox chased her!!  We think the fox was just protecting her babies as no one has seen a fox acting like it has rabies.
