We surprised Hunter today by getting him out of school a little early and heading to the state fair.
Hunter, Chris, and Austin in this little helicopter. Ella wasn't so sure about the rides.
Hunter was a sucker for the games...can I play that one? Can I pop the balloons? Can I shoot the basketball? I really want a prize...Oh, I really want to win that banana (it was the size of him!) Some how, he didn't win!
The one ride we all went on...the fun slide. It was fun. The name did not lie. However, climbing the stairs was kind of scary...and they were super narrow. If I was about 2 inches wider on either side I would not have fit.
Riding on the Granny Bugs.
Checking out the animals.
A mama pig and her piglets...this pig was HUGE, the picture does not do her size justice! Hunter kept insisting it was a cow.
Chris really wanted to go see the vegetables. Here's the first prize pumpkin. This was around the time when Hunter started complaining...he has a fake smile. He wanted to go play more games. I think he was just hungry, because once we ate dinner he was fine.
Dinner...Hunter really wanted to try a corn dog. He loved it and asked for a second one.
Dessert...homemade ice cream. The NC State ice cream line was way too long. This place offered vanilla, strawberry, cookies and cream, and bacon. Yes, bacon ice cream. Hunter was a little disturbed and said, "thinking about bacon ice cream makes me thirsty."
Right next to the ice cream place there was a bluegrass band.
Austin watching Thomas. He left this area screaming. Around this time we realized we should start heading back to the car. I also realized that the fair would be a lot more fun without kids. There were a ton of cool exhibits I would have liked to look at. Oh well. I saw an older couple and thought...I guess in 20 years I can go back and look at the exhibits without someone crawling on the floor or begging to win a goldfish. (and it wasn't Ella...she just held my hand and observed)
***All caught up on the blog...sorry for getting so far behind. Thanks to everyone who called or emailed me concerned for my missing posts. I hate letting my readers down, but we've been so busy! :)
