We had to find three more Waldos today, because it was the last day before the drawing tomorrow night. Hunter is going to be one unhappy kid if he doesn't win a prize tomorrow.
One local shop was called The Cupcake Shoppe. It is the kind of cupcake that has more frosting then cake. (not a huge fan of that, but I won't pass up on a cupcake either).
We got four and split three...we were all too full to eat the 4th one. One was chocolate with mint frosting, one was peanut butter with chocolate frosting, one was dark chocolate with chocolate frosting, and one was white cake with oreo cookie frosting. They were all delicious!
One of the local shops was right near where Chris works so we met him for lunch downtown. The shop was neat...it had all handcrafted pieces from local artists...jewelry, painting, pottery, etc... However, the first piece we walked near was priced at $500. We found Waldo and got out before we broke the artwork.
Hunter had his second day at camp and came home with two neat airplanes. He was pretty excited. I was actually productive when Ella and Austin napped.
Hunter and I went to his book club tonight. They were assigned to read Manuelo the Playing Mantis by Don Freeman. A 14 year old cellist was there to perform as well.
Come see what we have been up to in 2012! A blog post for each day of the year...plus one (leap year)!

1 Camper + 2 Nappers
This afternoon Hunter went to a summer camp and he will for the rest of the week. It's a science camp where they build things that fly...kites, planes, rockets, etc...
He was nervous, but had a friend with him so he seemed fine when I left. When he got home he was excited to share what they had made.
Austin was NOT happy that we were leaving Bro Bro behind. Thankfully, there is a shaded playground right near where we dropped Hunter off. So, we played there for an hour and came home and I had two 2 year olds napping!
It was weird...I wasn't sure what to do with myself. So, I watched some of the Olympics and worked on my knitting. I'll do something more productive tomorrow if I should be so lucky.
This evening was spent mostly trying to fix Austin's crib. The boys were jumping in it, after being asked NOT to do so...and a piece of the wood split and that was that.
Hunter was afraid he was going to get spanked. I just told him that this is why I asked him not to jump on a bed that has a weight limit of 50lbs.
We made a quick trip to Target to get a side rail...Chris got the crib fixed and took the side off and there was Austin's new toddler bed.
Here he is "practicing." Chris took the side of the crib off and then put the "toddler" sides up, but there was still a bit of a gap in between. He has also slept so close to the side of the crib, that I figured he would fall out a few times, which would mean I would have to get up and help him back into bed. So, for now, the side rail will keep him from doing that! Please note the new piece of wood on the right side that Chris had to use to get the bed to stay up. And, that's why you're not supposed to jump on the bed.
Fast asleep.

Visit in Laurinburg
The boys wanted to go see MooMa and PaPa this weekend, so we drove down to Laurinburg for the day on Sunday.
We went over to Emmy and Papa's house (their great grandparents) and got to visit with some other family member as well. They always get ice cream when they go there.
Here they are with their little cousin, Bennett. (7 months old)
Hunter pretending he graduated from high school.
Austin playing "his" banjo.

7/28/12 A Day Late...Again
It was storming again last night when I was going to post on the blog, so I had to wait until this morning.
Yesterday we went to a few local shops to "find" Waldo for a context Hunter is participating in.
The we came home to swim for awhile since it was super hot, again. This video is actually from Friday, but I forgot to post it. Hunter can swim all the way across the pool holding his breath.
I told Hunter on Friday we could make S'mores, but it rained Friday night and stormed last night...so we made them inside.

Swimming anyone?
How about nine hours of swimming? Because, that's what we did today.
Hunter's friend from preschool, Kyle, along with his brother, sister, and mom came over to swim this morning.
We had a little break for lunch. These three watched part of Shrek while I made lunch.
Then our neighbors from up the street came over to swim with Hunter. They are going into 5th grade at Underwood, where Hunter goes to school. Ella napped...Austin didn't. He WOULD NOT keep his bathing suit on.
Later we had Emily and Jay over to swim and eat pizza. The pizza arrived as we were getting the stuff outside picked up, as it looked like it was about to storm.
I was hungry when I ordered the pizza for 4 adults and 2 kids.
The boys watching the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics. Hunter is excited to watch swimming, fencing, track & field, archery, etc...

Fun with Friends
Hunter had his friend, Braxton, over today for the day. The boys were excited to get into the pool because before his mom had even left they had already changed into their suits and jumped in. So, we all swam for a few hours before lunch.
After lunch we played inside for a bit. Ironman and GI Joe made an appearance.
Popsicles to keep cool...don't let the picture full you, Austin enjoyed it!
Before:
A few minutes in:
I could not take an after picture of Ella because she was WAY too messy. After Ella went down for a nap (failed attempt for Austin, even after he hardly slept last night) we went back out to swim.
Snorkeling boys:
Austin had to wear a face mask too.
They spent most of their pool time diving for the rings and sticks we have.
Mr. No Nap was tired.
Here's to hoping bedtime is easier tonight. It has to be, right?

Screaming Austin
The Screaming Austin is not a ride, but what I am currently listening to as I write this. I came home from an evening out with a friend to the boys "asleep." As I walked up the stairs quietly I went into Hunter's room to turn off his light and music to find him wide awake. Then Austin started calling my name asking to go downstairs. I attempted to rock him asleep, but he just wouldn't have it...so now he is freaking out in his room screaming my name. Note to self...do not come home before 10pm next time I go out.
Today we stayed home. We played outside for a bit and took a walk while Hunter rode his scooter. He is doing really well riding it now.
Hunter and I swam while Ella and Austin napped.
Chris took the boys swimming this evening. I'll have to post pictures tomorrow.
