First Day of School...

...for Austin and Ella.  We started our first "formal" preschool lesson today after a trip to the playground to run around for a bit.

I told them that we were going to go to school and first needed to take pictures outside.  Ella had a backpack, so Austin went digging for his "baman" backpack.  They were so excited!  I had a hard time getting them both to smile and look at me at the same time...then they both had to stick their tongues out.

Check out our backpacks!

Austin Crowell Holcomb 2 years 6 months.

So excited!

This week we are working on the letter A, the color red, circles for shapes, and  tracing straight lines.  I got a lot of ideas from some great blogs and some friends.  This is trial and error with these two...but, today was so much fun.

We used spatulas as pointers and Ziggy the Zebra came out to help us sing our ABCs and then we said them out loud without singing.  They seemed to enjoy banging the spatulas on the wall as they pointed to each letter on the ABC poster.

We worked on some fine motor skills with peeling off ant stickers to cover the letter A.  Austin was working on putting them directly on the lines.  Ella put them all over.  We talked about all the colors of the ants and then counted them when they were done.

This was interesting...I showed them each how to trace the straight line...Ella did pretty well.  Austin...well, check out his paper.  He attempted to trace them and then starting scribbling like mad.

I had Ella put all of her work in her backpack.  Austin had to do it as well.
