Last day being one!

So, Austin's last day of being one did not start off so well.  He was busy playing inside of his toy container and it tipped over.  Thankfully we have the pads on the fireplace.  He didn't move from this spot for a good five minutes or so.

This upcoming week is teacher appreciation week at school.  The PTA sent home a list of what to do each day.  Monday is Bus Driver appreciation day.  Tuesday is for the office staff (from Kindergarten and 1st graders), Wednesday the parents from each class will provide dinner for the teacher/family, Thursday is to do something special for your own teacher, and Friday there is a staff lunch that parents are bringing the food for.

I had come up with a few ideas before I knew of the list from the PTA.  Swedish fish with a statement, "You're O"fish"ally the best", Smarties with a statement, "I am a smartie because of you", and Thanks A lot girl scout cookies.

These are for Hunter's two teachers.

I realized that I made a mistake on O"fish"ally...I had an i...oh well.  Thought that counts, right?  These are for the bus driver, office staff, and I had extras so I made them for Hunter's teachers as well.

These are for Hunter's two teachers and his elective teacher for this quarter.

We have been so BUSY this weekend getting things moved around, built, organized, etc...  Chris put together Hunter's new bookshelf/toy holder.  The cute baskets are from Target, they are a hard plastic...so they will be easy to clean.

He also put together Hunter's desk...Hunter spent quite a bit of time this evening writing in his notebook at his desk.  He set all of the knick knack stuff out.  We need to get him a chair.  So glad he'll have a quiet place to do homework now.

The boys brushing their teeth together before bed...last photo of Austin as a one year old.  :(  He had a hard time going to sleep tonight.  He screamed and screamed and eventually passed out.

Austin's party is not until Saturday, but you can't have a birthday without cake.  So, to stick with his birthday theme...I made a train cake.  My friend Erin gave Hunter this pan several years ago.

I followed the directions and wasn't so sure how it would turn out...this looked weird to me.  But, it said to make sure the cake batter was spread up the sides and less batter in the middle.

And, by golly...it worked!  Maybe I am a baker after all.

And...they all came out of the pan!  I will decorate it tomorrow.   I have lots of fun candy to put on it.

Meanwhile...Chris started building this train table/set around 8:15.  I gave the boys a bath, put them to bed, baked the entire cake...and he was still working on it.  Once I was done I got the track set up as he finished all the assembly work.  We were done by 11.  Austin is going to freak out when he sees it.  He wanted to wear his choo choo pajamas and sleep with his choo choo book...and he has no clue he's getting his own train set!  Thanks to MooMa, Papa, and Nonna for such a great gift.

All done!  I picked this table made by Imaginarim (Toys R Us) because it had good reviews (better then the Melissa and Doug one), it cost a lot less then the Thomas set, but is compatible with Thomas and Brio wooden trains...and the table has two drawers for storage.  It seems sturdy and it's a perfect height for Austin.  Everyone is going to love it.

I do see some issues with pieces being taken off, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there!  Can't wait for tomorrow morning!!
