Pictures and Sprinklers...

This morning I took the boys to Olan Mills (big mistake) to get "quick" pictures taken.  I mainly wanted 2 year old shots of Austin and then a picture with the two boys together.  We got to the studio right on time (10am) to find out all of their computers were down.  So we waited and waited...and waited...and FINALLY the computers were up.  Well...needless to say, after waiting for so long Austin was NOT interested in getting his picture taken.  The photographer was not very good...not helpful at all...and just all around not friendly.  Lesson learned...pay more  money for Autumn at Reminiscing Moments to do our photos!

On the way to the mall Austin insisted on bringing his basketball.  He dribbled his ball all through the mall.  Several people were in awe at how well he could dribble and walk along with me.  Three or four mentioned, "well, there's your retirement."  One can only hope!  The entire time he was just dribbling away like it's the "thing" to do.

What else should we do while waiting for the computers to work?  Play in the clothes...and try on crocs.

Today was the warmest day of our spring break so far (it's supposed to rain tomorrow and Friday).  So, we tried out the sprinkler that Austin got for his birthday.  The kids were a little skiddish with it at first...or most of the time, I should say.

Ella wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with the water.  She freaked out when the water hit her.  So, I set this towel out for her so she could watch.

The fire hydrants were being flushed...

This is pretty much the look she had on her face during our sprinkler fun...

I found this idea online.  So we painted with shaving cream while Ella and Austin napped.  First you take a baking sheet and fill it with shaving cream.  (not the gel).  Then you use paint (I used washable finger paint) and make designs on the shaving cream.

Then you can use a straw, toothpick, etc...to stir in the paint...not too much though.

Next you take an egg (cut out from card stock) and set it right on top of the shaving cream.  Peel off the egg and let it sit for a minute or so.

This was one of Hunter's eggs after being dipped in the shaving cream/paint.

This is right after I used a spatula to wipe off the shaving cream...the paint stays and you have a beautiful egg.  I didn't take a picture of all the finished eggs.  I will do that tomorrow.  You can use them as cards, decoration, etc...  The boys LOVED it.  So fun!  I am going to do this with Ella and Austin in the fall to make fall leaves.

Then I let the boys play with shaving cream all over the table.  Needless to say...it was a MESS!  But, at least it smelled nice.  :)

I went to go get the pictures this evening so I had to drag the boys back to the mall.  Hunter wanted me to take a picture of him crossing his eyes so he could see what they looked like.  These pictures make me laugh and kind of sum up how I was feeling today!  Kind of a crazy day!  (the pictures from Olan Mills did come out cute, but that's only because of the subject matter...certainly not because of the photographer we had!)

Chris went to Chapel Hill this afternoon to go see his dad.  He had surgery on Tuesday and is doing well.  I plan on taking the boys in a few days if he's up for it!  We are thinking of him and hoping for a speedy recovering!
