This week went fast, but it seemed long...if that makes sense.
Today I brought Hunter to school because I had a meeting. I took a picture of Hunter and his first grade teacher, Miss Jennessee, because I never took one on the first day. So, here he is...day 5. Overall, it seemed like he had a good first week of school. He has complained each day about something...work related, but for the most part, he had a lot of positive things to say. However, yesterday in the car he told Andrew that the 4th day of first grade was the hardest day ever and he may want to skip it next year. Tips from Hunter. :)
After school, instead of sitting in the carpool line forever, I picked Hunter up as a walker and we all went to the playground at his school. It was incredibly hot!
Austin as Boba Fett.
We went to feed the ducks this morning and then spent some time playing on the playground. It was really hot today...sometimes I forget how hot August can get.
Sweet friends, Gabby, Austin, and Ella.
The day flew by, but nothing picture worthy I guess.
We're all thinking about Papa tonight and can't wait to see him this weekend. Austin wants to show off his new Angry Birds shirt. :)
Austin has seemed to master the art of skinny dipping...a skill he has learned from his father. (Let's see how long before Chris notices this comment...I wonder if he even reads the blog.)
Anyway...we started off our day building some towers and knocking them down.
Cam was thinking..."So, you're going to make me play with toys today? I prefer the computer keyboard instead!"
Austin was counting as he built this. He counts everything now, just like me.
This picture makes me laugh...Ella in the background. I swear that is a train whistle. Not sure what she is doing with it.
Then we headed out to the playground.
Austin won't nap with Andrew around, so while Ella and Cam napped we went out for a swim. Didn't plan it, but Austin stripped down naked and put on his life jacket. So, into the pool we went.
My little skinny dipper.
Snack after swimming.
For those of you who do not live in Wake County...transportation for schools starting up this week have been a NIGHTMARE! Students getting to school hours late, getting dropped off hours late...and that is IF their bus even shows up. Needless to say, I have been picking up Hunter as a carpooler each day (Chris brings him)...and if I didn't have the iPad, we would ALL go nuts. Austin taking his turn...thank you Mr. iPad inventor...Austin is much quieter when he's playing it!
We biked/walked around the neighborhood and then Hunter wanted to go swimming. Mr. Skinny Dipper did as well.
Hunter was afraid that the water was too cold so he was balancing on this tube.
He almost fell in here, but managed to stay on!
He finally got in...just in time to get out. :)
I can't believe summer is over and swimming season is almost over as well. Good thing fall is my favorite season!
It's kind of funny to say the house was quiet today, because this morning there were four kiddos here. I always am reminded of how loud Hunter is when he's not home. :)
Cam is back and is walking all over. He acts like he is on a mission. I found out today that he prefers to NOT play with toys, but instead see if our house is baby proof. He tried to get into the cabinets, drawers, toilet, and he LOVED the computer. He did not like Winnie at first...I guess he forgot about her...and he also go nervous with all the kids around him. Everyone is just fascinated with him. Pretty funny.
A little breakfast/morning snack.
Some play-doh fun...Gabby came to play for a bit and she did a great job helping me clean up all the tiny pieces that Ella and Austin like to make with the play-doh.
I had a super cute picture of Gabby reading to Austin, but all of his boy parts were hanging out, so I didn't think it was blog appropriate...
Hunter had a good day at school and his teacher sent me an email saying that he is very kind and has been helping the new students without being asked. His response, "I told you I was trying my best!"
This morning I thought it was pretty funny how Winnie stayed in bed while I was getting ready. I realized that my 12lb dog was sleeping by herself in a king sized bed. She's clearly not spoiled.
Today was Hunter's first day of first grade. Kind of odd sending him off to school to enter the grade I taught for some many years. I hope he enjoys it more then he did Kindergarten!
Apparently I was tired when I was making breakfast. I was going to make pancakes, but realized we did not have what I needed...so I opted for french toast. I add the eggs, nutmeg, vanilla, and what I thought was cinnamon...which turned out to be chili powder. Woops! Thankfully I noticed.
So, I started over...and this time I dropped the nutmeg into the eggs and way too much cinnamon spilled in, so I had to scoop it out. I was thinking how good it looked and wishing I made some for myself when I gave Hunter his breakfast.
Well, lucky day for me...he didn't like it...so I got to eat it after all!
Here is Hunter by his tree that we planted when he was born.
A toothless smile for the first day of school!
Austin was excited. He was still in his pajamas because the story time we go to on Mondays was having a pajama day.
Kind of a funny picture of both of them. They both need a haircut!
Walking to school...his water bottle was making him fall over.
He was extremely nervous and seemed to be on the verge of tears when we got into the school. He had this funny smile/wrinkled nose thing going on to hold back his tears. I didn't want to get his picture with his teacher like that, so I'll have to do that another day when I go in. Here's one shot I got when he was in between the weird face and normal face.
On our way to story time, I looked back and saw these two holding hands.
Austin was carrying his lunchbox with his hand on his hip right before I took this.
Andrew's pajamas and vest combo at the playground this afternoon. I finally convinced him to change around 3pm today. (mind you it was super hot today)
This is what I found in our driveway when we got home this afternoon. It ran off to the neighbors yard before I could take a picture. Andrew was yelling...A MOOSE, A MOOSE and Ella was freaking out.
A little first day of school treat...Yogurt Mountain! Yum!
Hunter was a little negative about school this afternoon and evening, but we're trying to point out the positives. We filled out the form for his first and second quarter electives and he's excited for his choices! He did say he had fun at lunch and recess. He saw all his old friends and said his teacher was nice and didn't yell. :)
