Once Upon a Rainy Day...

My day began at 6am when I got up to go meet a friend for a trail run.  We are both doing a 10k trail race next Saturday and 10 mile trail race in October, so we need to get some miles in on trails.

The trail we went to was called the Mountain to Sea Trail.  You could run it all the way from the beaches of NC (Wilmington, I think) to somewhere in the mountains in NC.  I guess a woman did it this summer and completed it in 3 weeks, which was some sort of record.

The trail was really nice, although Becky got attacked by spider webs and I tripped and fell...almost.  We just beat the rain as it started on my drive home.

Then it rained and rained and rained.  It did stop for a bit...and by stop I mean it was just drizzling...so we took the dogs and the kids for a walk.  While we were walking a woman walked down her driveway to pet the dogs.  Hunter started talking to her.  His first question, "Do we know what your name is?"  They talked for awhile.  Hunter told her that he was going into first grade, where he went to school, etc...as we were walking away he said, "Does your dog drink from your toilet?  I sure am glad mine don't!"

When we got home we gave the dogs a bath.

Austin got splashed when we were bathing Winnie, so he put his hat on when it was Sadie's turn.

I said, "Don't dump water on Sadie's head, Austin."  He heard, "Dump water on Sadie's head, Austin."  Poor girl.

We borrowed Fenway and Parker's ferminator...we really need to buy one.  After all the hair that fell off during the bath and while drying...this is the pile that brushed off of my short haired Winnie.  Gross!

Austin had to help.

Then he got the camera and took his famous shot..."cheese!"

This is Sadie's pile...double gross!

And, together...the picture doesn't quite show the depth of the fur.

So we had some nice clean, soft, doggies for about an hour.  Then...during dinner Austin proceeded to hang his plate over the side of his seat and drip the last of his dinner onto BOTH dogs.

Now they have this dried to them:

I just brushed Sadie again and got a bigger pile of fur this time!  Crazy.

I finished Miss Caity's blanket (my friend, Lesley's daughter).  My goal was to have it there by Lesley's birthday...tomorrow.  So, I was close.  Hoping I can make it to the post office early this week so she will get it soon!  (it's called a four square blanket...hard to see the detail in the picture)

Hunter's last week of summer is this week.  He starts school next Monday.  We received his teacher assignment in the mail on Saturday and so far we know of one of his friends from last year's class that will be with him.  Wednesday is Meet the Teacher, so we'll find out more then.
